Who Am I?
My
name is Tina Kewy and I was born in January 1978 in Athens, Greece.
I come from an artistic family and I was greatly encouraged as a
child to create using any medium that was available to me.
Thankfully, pretty much every medium was indeed available from
sewing to embroidery to painting to sculpting to various forms of
craft.
I first used polymer clay when I was only 7 years old and I haven't
stopped using it since.
I started sculpting realistic babies in 1999 and I sold my first one
in 2001. Since then I have enjoyed sculpting anything my heart
desires and in any size; from 1.5" doll house miniatures to life
size 3 year old 40" dolls.
I also enjoy sculpting animals and Ball Jointed (BJD) Dolls. What I
love about clay is that the sky is virtually the limit. You can
created ANYTHING with it...
I do not use those new sculpting forms but instead my dolls are made
on a tinfoil frame with the exception of the head in which I place a
styrofoam ball (otherwise it would be too heavy).
I use no aids when I sculpt other than visual ones like photographs
and anatomy charts. I am crazy about anatomy and the correctness of
it; I don't guess when I sculpt realistic sculpts. If I can't
remember or I am not sure, I look it up to make sure I am accurate
in what I make.
I also teach sculpting classes from beginners to advanced and I
would love to take some classes myself as I firmly believe you can
*always* learn something new.
Except my One of a Kind dolls, I work for some major doll companies.
I design the dolls and they produce them in vinyl. In addition to
that I am also producing my own limited editions the most recent
being Little Wonder, a resin edition of a just born baby.
In my (non existent) free time, I enjoy playing with my twin sons,
aged 26 months. I also enjoy reading books, in fact I thrive on
reading when I get a moment. I also love TV especially documentaries
and biographies and other educational shows. You can say I am very
curious and I would love to know "everything" lol.
I live in Greece with my boys and my husband. Our family is
completed by our "fur baby", a Blue Siamese, Beau Hugs.
